Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs' Stanford commencement speech - 'Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish!'

When you're young, you look at television and think, there's a conspiracy. The networks have conspired to dumb us down. But when you get a little older, you realize that's not true. The networks are in business to give people exactly what they want. That's a far more depressing thought. Conspiracy is optimistic! You can shoot the bastards! We can have a revolution! But the networks are really in business to give people what they want. It's the truth.

Wired, 1996.

Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking.

When you grow up you tend to get told the world is the way it is and you're life is just to live your life inside the world. Try not to bash into the walls too much. Try to have a nice family, have fun, save a little money.

That's a very limited life. Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact: Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use.

Once you learn that, you'll never be the same again. Steve Jobs

When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: "If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you'll most certainly be right." It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: "If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?" And whenever the answer has been "No" for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something. Steve Jobs, Stanford University, 2005

Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works. Steve Jobs

Simple can be harder than complex. You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. Steve Jobs

Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith. Steve Jobs

The only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. Steve Jobs
